Occupation
Registered dietitian in private practice. In addition to working with patients, I write about food and nutrition and consult for a health and wellness technology company.
Interests and hobbies
When I can find time to get away, I love to travel. I am so grateful for the opportunities I have had to see the world and experience other cultures. Because of the fabulous weather in Southern California, I am able to enjoy outdoor activities and shop at farmer’s markets year round. I enjoy staying active by hiking, practicing yoga and running. Cooking meals with my boyfriend is a form of relaxation, and I love trying new recipes.
How I stay healthy
I do think it's important to prepare fresh and healthy food at home. I have not been sick in years, and I think that eating well, getting the right about of sleep and regular physical activity is the key to having a strong immune system. Though I love fruits and vegetables, I also have a sweet tooth and occasionally indulge in ice cream.
My greatest achievement
Starting a nutritional private practice has been an ultimate career goal for me. I feel that taking the steps to work for myself is a great achievement.
Three words that describe me
Detail-oriented, open-minded, happy.
Something you'd never guess about me
I lived and worked at Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona for a summer during college. Since I grew up in Virginia, this experience gave me an amazing opportunity to explore the unique beauty of the Southwest.
How I pamper myself
Every once in a while I enjoy getting a massage.
Favorite place in the world
I have visited over a dozen countries and thirty-something U.S. states, so this is a difficult question for me. However, because I live nearly 300 miles away from my parents, I think pulling up a chair at their kitchen table is one of my favorite places in the world.
Where I see myself in ten years
In ten years I hope to still be working as a registered dietitian and traveling to new places, but also to be spending most of my time building a happy and healthy family. |
