"I feel as women we do a lot of comparing and competing instead of just focusing on what feels and looks right for ourselves."

Occupation
Media relations specialist and copywriter.

Interests & hobbies
I'm a weekend docent at a history museum in the East Village (Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space) that archives the social activism that gave rise to community gardens and communal living spaces in the neighborhood. I’m also a house music fanatic, natural hair enthusiast and avid reader of biographies.

Beauty inspiration
I've always admired the healthy, but glamorous look of the model Peggy Dillard.

Best skincare advice
Start taking care of your skin early in life, get enough sleep and drink lots of water.

On feeling beautiful in your own skin
My advice comes from that Max Ehrmann poem, "Desiderata." "If you compare yourself to others, you will become vain and bitter for there will always be greater and lesser persons than yourself." I feel as women we do a lot of comparing and competing instead of just focusing on what feels and looks right for ourselves.

Why DHC
The products just have an authenticity that comes through in the combination of ingredients chosen and its packaging. When I use DHC products versus any others, I feel that I am using treatment products, not just cosmetics. They make me feel like I am doing something good for myself.

Favorite DHC products

I love Velvet Skin Coat®. When I use it, I don’t have to use foundation, just a small amount of pressed powder. It makes me just perfectly matte and even.

I had dark circles under my eyes that I thought I’d have to live with until I started using Eye Bright.
