Ecologically friendly
Poetically named "meadowfoam" because it resembles
foam blowing atop sea waves, this pretty flowering
plant offers ecological benefits. In the 1970s,
an alternative was needed for sperm whale oil
in order to protect the species, and meadowfoam
oil turned out to serve this purpose well. Since
then, meadowfoam plants have also been grown
as a rotation crop for grass farmers, thereby
minimizing crop burning and helping to keep
the air cleaner.
Moisture magnet
But what does it do for your skin? The oil from
meadowfoam seed is used in skincare and hair
care products because of its rich moisturizing
capabilities. When applied to the skin, it forms
a barrier to help prevent moisture loss— it
is renowned for penetrating quickly and for
being highly emollient without being greasy.
Experience the rewards of meadowfoam (Limnanthes
alba) seed oil for yourself in DHC Olive
Hand Cream.* Cold weather and frequent washings
can really abuse your hands, resulting in dryness,
flakiness, and itchiness. Olive Hand Cream leaves
your skin feeling soothed and restored.
* Also found in DHC Mild Cleansing Cream.
