Occupation: Community college counselor and instructor. I have learned from working with my students that even in the worst of human conditions, one’s willpower and attitude make a significant difference between success and failure. To see a student leaving my office or my class with their spirits lifted, worries reduced, and hopes restored is my ultimate reward. 

As a first-generation Vietnamese American: Some of the initial challenges were learning a new language, acculturating, and adjusting to a new society with a new set of rules. It was difficult to balance generational and cultural differences within my family and Vietnamese community. I respect my elders and the choices they make as much as I respect the opportunity that I have in this country to live my life by my own standards. I’m raising my children to appreciate and understand their origin and history. At the same time, I’m encouraging them to find their own path and be whoever they choose to be by blending both cultures.

Why I love what I’m wearing: My traditional Vietnamese áo dài dress represents my cultural heritage and femininity. It flatters every figure and body type. When I wear it, I feel elegant, demure, and sensual—all at the same time.

Hidden talent: I used to do card readings for friends, acquaintances—even strangers. People were shocked by my accuracy. My mom convinced me to stop doing it, but it was an interesting hobby at the time.

Remove makeup
My basic skincare routine begins with removing my makeup at the end of the day with Deep Cleansing Oil.

Wash
Next, I wash my face with Pure Soap in the summer and Mild Soap in the winter.

Tone and Moisturize
I apply Mild Lotion and follow with Olive Virgin Oil. I also alternate between Q10 Lotion and Q10 Cream to help promote elasticity in my skin.

Plus
I use Q10 Moist Color Base SPF 30+ in Pink and Apricot as a base for my makeup. This product works so well in controlling oil that I only need to blot my face at the end of the day.
