DHC’s bestselling, cult-classic Deep Cleansing Oil is truly one of a kind. The original Japanese first step oil cleanser melts away makeup and dissolves impurities, leaving your skin clean, soft and radiant.

The 100% organic olive-oil based formulation works on the scientific premise that “like attracts like.” Applied with dry hands on your dry face, this rich, naturally golden-hued olive oil-based cleanser binds with dirt and effortlessly breaks down sunscreen, sebum and stubborn makeup, like waterproof mascara and eyeliner, without clogging your pores. The water-soluble formula rinses away with zero oily residue. Its silky feel and delicate, natural rosemary aroma make washing your face feel like a luxurious spa experience.

This botanical formulation features antioxidant-rich organic olive oil and vitamin E to hydrate, soften and protect against free radical damage, and rosemary leaf oil to invigorate and refresh. Also works great as a makeup brush cleaner.

Can I use deep cleansing oil as a pre-wash oil cleanse on my hair?

Asked by: boba48
Hello! Absolutely! Using Deep Cleansing Oil as a "pre-wash" works beautifully. It gently dissolves buildup, without stripping the hair like many clarifying products do. We recommend parting the hair and depositing a drop, moving back the part and applying another one, and so on. Continue to do this over your entire scalp, then get you fingers in there and massage! Really work the product throughout the scalp and roots of the hair, then finish up by performing a shampoo cleanse. Remember to apply cleansing oil to a DRY scalp/hair. The dirtier your scalp/hair is, the better ;)

Is this product Hypoallergenic?

Asked by: Keith
Hello! At DHC, we strive to be transparent and realistic regarding product claims, while taking into consideration that skin types, allergies, and tolerance to ingredients differ greatly amongst individuals. "hypoallergenic" is an industry catch-phrase referring to a product that's free of ingredients perceived as being non-irritating. Because we believe there are too many variables to consider when making such a statement, and the term "hypoallergenic" is not an FDA approved claim, we do not use it to describe our products.

Do I use the oil cleanser and then the foaming wash?

Asked by: Mary ann DAgostino
Hello! Cleansing oils have the unique ability to meld with unwanted oil, makeup, and sunscreen more effectively than any cleanser requiring dampened skin. The key is the oil base. Because oil attracts oil, it can bind with long-wearing products that adhere to the skin, along with oil in the pores. Cleansing oils are dispensed into dry hands and massaged over dry skin. Because of the oil-in-water formulation, they can be rinsed away easily without leaving an oily feeling behind. It's our suggestion that you continue your cleansing routine with a lather-based cleanser. Foaming cleansers (including soap and gel cleansers) use surfactants to create light friction on the skin’s surface, resulting in lather. Lather works to lift fine dirt and debris away from the skin's surface, providing a refining benefit. A cleansing routine including both an oil and lathering cleanser, ensures your skin is achieving the most thorough cleansing possible.

When does DHC cleansing oil expire? What is its shelf life?

Asked by: nickname
Hello! Our products have an expiration date, and a PAO date. Expiration dates are monitored at distribution level and are monitored by LOT numbers. LOT numbers are typically made up of letters and/or numbers, and can be used to determine expiration dates. Please contact our Customer Care team and a representative will be happy to gather the LOT information from you and verify its expiration date. To determine the time in which an opened product is best used by, please refer to the PAO illustration on the packaging. PAO (period after opening) is a universal symbol that resembles a jar with its lid partially open, stamped with a number in the middle. The number represents how many months a product is best used within. For best results, we recommend using an opened bottle of Deep Cleansing Oil within 6 months. If you have additional questions, please contact us at 1-800-342-2273 and we'll be happy to assist.

Is cleansing oil safe to keep for use in shower?

Asked by: Chrisjenn
Hello. Although generally speaking, it's safe to store Deep Cleansing Oil in the shower, excessive humidity can contribute to the product going rancid. If it typically takes you six months to finish a bottle of Deep Cleansing Oil, (the suggested time in which we recommend using it after opening), we recommend considering storing it outside the shower and please remember to avoid allowing water to leak into the product. We hope our reply proves to be useful, and if you have additional questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out again. Thank you for choosing DHC and have a beautiful day!
