Although Skin Refresh is rather gentle, and normally suitable for daily application; we strongly recommend using either retinol OR Skin Refresh, but never both at the same time. Please remember that both products encourage the skin's natural cell turnover, and if accelerated too quickly, can increase the possibility of irritation and redness.

Can you explain what the "placental protein" ingredient is in this product--where does it come from and how is it processed?

Our placental protein is porcine (pig)-derived and a rich source of nutrients, amino acids, and proteins that condition and soften skin.
Although we use animal derived ingredients in some of our products, there’s no cruelty involved in extracting these ingredients; they’re natural by-products that would otherwise be discarded during the processing of these sources. The ingredients are safe to use in cosmetics, and we’re confident they provide tremendous benefits for your skin.

Can you use skin refresh with the super collagen serum at night?

Hello!
Actually, the two will work very nicely together. By applying Skin Refresher first (keeping in mind it's applied directly to cleansed skin BEFORE ANY other products, including toning lotions), you're clearing a prefect pathway for Super Collagen Supreme to hydrate and absorb. Remember; you'll normally layer products from "lighter" to "heavier" and always water-based products before oil-based ones.

Can the Vitamin C Essence be used after the Skin Refresh and before moisturizer?

Skin Refresh and Vitamin C Essence are each applied to freshly cleansed skin, before toners and moisturizers. To ensure you're getting the maximum benefit from each of them, we recommend using one during the day and one at night, but not at the same time. Please remember that Skin Refresh has added vitamin C to enhance brightening. Though it's not the same concentration as what's in Vitamin C Essence, the two products compliment each other nicely. We suggest applying Vitamin C Essence in the morning and Skin Refresh at night. To protect your results and prevent future dark spots, don't forget to use your Brightening Sunscreen daily!

Do you use NEW Skin Refresh in place of the other exfoliators in the skincare line?

Hello!
Although Skin Refresh is gentle and can be used daily, we recommend refraining from applying it the same day you're using Facial Scrub or Moisture Rich Clarifying Peeling Gel. Because Face Wash Powder is a daily cleanser with exfoliating benefits, it can be used in combination with any of the other exfoliators.

Is this as effective/strong as the original Renewing AHA cream which was discontinued around 3 years ago? If not, what DHC product would be the equivalent?

Our new Skin Refresh is suitable for everyday use and incorporates a moderate concentration of AHAs; whereas, discontinued Renewing AHA Cream was a treatment with a much higher concentration, making it suitable for use 2-3 days weekly.
As a leave-on product, Skin Refresh provides a continual benefit; encouraging improvement over skin texture, tone and clarity, and can easily be integrated into an existing skin care routine.

Excellent question and happy to help! When you apply Skin Refresher to skin, you'll do so when it's clean and ready to effectively absorb what's applied. We recommend allowing Skin Refresher to dry completely before applying toning lotion. The toning lotion will not "weaken" Skin Refresher's benefits, but instead contribute calming ingredients to condition the skin.
